Diana Dussan, Online Media, Communications, and Engagement Specialist

{ first: 'Diana', last: 'Dussan' }

I grew up between Puerto Rico and Texas, having spent half of my life overseas, between five continents. Growing up I dreamed of becoming an entomologist and spent a lot of time advocating insect and animal welfare. I spent half of elementary school fighting off bullies from kicking ant hills and by high school I was the go-to person for rescuing and rehabilitating any creature in need from injured raccoons and opossums to crows and tortoises.

I recently relocated to Austin for its diverse nature and food scenes. I spend most of my time cooking (up to several hours a day), whittling, kayaking, hiking, foraging for and identifying wild edibles, geeking out on sci-fi shows, throwing dinner parties, and obsessing about goats. My greatest passion is learning -- about cultures, animals, plants, people, food, science, religion, anything!

I’m excited to be part of the GAP team, because of the positive impact this organization has on the planet. I’m looking forward to combining my passion for animal welfare with my background in online marketing, teaching, graphic design, and culinary arts as the new Online Media, Communications, and Engagement Specialist.

As an informed consumer, company, brand, farmer, or rancher, you can change the face of animal agriculture. Join us in shifting the food industry to be more animal welfare conscious and GAP 5-Step Rated.
